Migrated To WordPress

Well, more to come, but after 6 years with blogger – they’ve changed the way they do things (no more FTP) and so I’ve moved to WordPress. It’s a move I’ve been meaning to do for a while. It automagically (well, almost) imports all the posts (except for video’s) but not comments.. though I may try to work on that.

Anyways.. enjoy – let me know if anything does(n’t) work that well..

  1. psdavey = Patrick S??????? Davey?
    What’s your secret middle name?

  2. Stephen… my huge secret is in the open at last ;)

  3. post scriptum,

    Latin for ‘after writing’

  4. Looks great. Did the transfer of the database just work out without any tweaking?

    • Pretty much – comments were the real issue. Because I had used my own commenting system on the old blog they wouldn’t import without a huge hassle (so I gave up).

Fortunately I’d made all of the images with http://www.maths.tcd.ie/ links – so all I had to do was do a find & replace over the database and replace with http://blog.psdavey.com/ and it all just worked.

      Magic :)

  5. Awesome. Just one thing; my parents have a problem reading your blog, due to their screen settings. Since they are using old screen on a 800 x 600 setting they can’t read the entire text. Your sidebar takes out the right side of your content. Maybe you could make the width relative…

    • They should be able to read the entire text?! Unfortunately the images are 250px wide – so if there are two side by side – then the minimum width of the sidebar (another 290 or something) will put it over the edge…

Honestly, can’t cater for everyone ;) (but they should be able to see all the text – what browser are you using? IE or FF? Can you mail a screenshot? :)

  6. Sorry I had it wrong apparently. The comments were too wide. I’ve send you a screen shot.

  7. And you are right. You can’t cater for everyone. Parents in law are such a hassle aren’t they… ;)
But think about this; what would Maaike’s mum say about this?

  8. Thank you. So I am important enough. I’m content.
I wouldn’t have said anything but Sjoerd is cheekier.
