Coronet Peak Circuit

Patrick Ryan had organised a boys weekend off to Cromwell to do the coronet peak loop We’d been doing a bunch of evening rides over the last couple of months to hopefully get fit enough to enjoy it.

We did the route in the recommended direction (clockwise), however, I’m not entirely sure that’s the best way to do it. The ride up was quite nice single track (but, it is still uphill ;), and most of the height you lose on the downhill at the end was on a (muddy) four wheel drive track. I’d been expecting some sweet single-track downhill action, but, alas was not to be. Don’t get me wrong, it was still great to be out and about in the hills again.

On the Saturday morning we went and did some laps at the bike park. It was a little too hard for me, so, I just did one loop (or was it two?) and then I was happy to shuttle everyone for a while. We’d also drawn lots as we decided that actually we did really like the idea of doing the first section of the circuit but in reverse. Fortunately (for me) it was Rob who drew the short straw, and so I did get to enjoy some proper downhill. That was simply great fun.

Thanks Paddy for organising a great weekend!
