Actually a very lazy weekend, no boarding, no tramping, just a short bike ride with Glynn on Saturday – and met up with Graham, Myra, Glynn & Jayne for geocaching (basically a treasure hunt with a GPS) on Sunday. One of the clues was at the lake below…
… I left them early but they went on to find three more clues and the actual cache.. I’ll put a link to it when they’ve written it up! I went off to have my Sunday dinner cooked by Mark – and then watched Dr. Strangelove. It’s a film I’ve wanted to see for a long time (well, since my friend Lorcan told me about it!). And I joined up with Alice in Videoland a very funky video store in ChCh. Great choice – they even have Tripods on DVD! (now I wonder who remembers the tripods..)
One of the reasons it was such a lazy weekend was so I could study for a project management course. I will be lucky to scrape a pass as I really don’t know nuffink about anyfink to do with managing anything – let alone projects. The course is called Prince2 and is a UK Government standard. It’s not easy, and has a 3 hour invigilated exam at the end. I haven’t done one of those since finals in college (which I still have nightmares from!)
Anyways… we’ll see – it’s nice to be learning again.
Finally – well worth checking out this http://www.dublincoastaldevelopment.com/ site. A video on the future housing development in Dublin (skit)
Friday night it was off to Rosendale Winery with the work social club. Lots of fun. Fortunately there weren’t unlimited quantities of free wine…
Bus was kinda fun, came all the way from Bristol. Probably just as much drinking done on the bus here as there! ;)
Had a very nice dinner, on Wednesday I think it was, as Aroha was moving out of 39 Fendalton. I will completely miss having her good self and Warick (currently playing in Europe) to pop in on.

Mark (my excellent flatmate) cooked a vegge lasagne, I made a choc mousse desert.. the bottle of wine went down (as did a small whisky after..). While they have moved out, I think this dinner thing will have to be performed on a fairly regular basis!
On Sunday headed up to porter heights with Glynn, Jayne, Graham, Myra, Dave, Heidi and Penny (who is off for 5 months in the Antarctic soon). Pretty rubbish conditions (I felt). It didn’t really soften up that much, and while they had got 5 cm of fresh, it had crusted over and broke up and formed chossy lumps as the day progressed. Soon twill be time to get back into tramping I think.

Finally got round to writing a letter to my (sniff) only regular pen pal Angelica… if anyone else still believes in letter writing – the address to send snail mail to is on the right. But my thanks to all those who have sent postcards…

So yesterday was sitting in work when I heard this massive bang. Most of us thought a truck had toppled over but it was in fact a meteorite flying overhead. Exciting stuff.
Also checked out a new physio yesterday. He seemed extremely thorough and gave me a possible explanation for my stiff (and sore sometimes) back… here’s hoping my new exercises work… it has been a year since I was last able to play squash! which is a heluva long time. Perhaps the meteor is a portent of good things to come :)
