Dear God! I’d forgotten how much fun 10 hour bus rides (in the sun) can be. Left Palmerston at 10:40 and arrived into downtown Auckland at 8pm.
My hostel is… jammers. Not travelling with friends and therefore no separate room..
My roommates seem ok… though it’s an odd set up. A central common room and 3 four bed dorms leading off it. With lots of loud Spanish speaking people who, no doubt, are lots of fun.
I took pre-emptive measures to counter their suspected late-night merriment by purchasing ear plugs. Honestly.. best travelling tools is an eye-mask and ear plugs.
I am almost looking forward to sitting in one quiet spot and not talking to anyone! One of the reasons I came to NZ and not downtown OZ was to get away from the more obvious backpacker scene.
Maybe I’m just getting old.
And I was thinking of going to see Cirque Du Soleil (Vareki) in Auckland when I get out of the course. But I think I’d rather try to organise a few ppl to go see it with. Last year Mhairi’s family took me to see Electra which is another of Cirque Du Soleils productions.. but I think I’d rather share it with other ppl than go on my lonesome. Though it would be well worth seeing. We’ll see. I have a feeling I’m up to Auckland sometime in Feb so I will try to organise to get to see it.
Well.. off to finish off my sandwiches and then try to find some sleep in this madhouse.
See you all in 10 days.. well, e-see you all in 10 days.. or so…
