Unfortunately the images are 250px wide - so if there are two side by side - then the minimum width of the sidebar (another 290 or something) will put it over the edge... Because I had used my own commenting system on the old blog they wouldn't import without a huge hassle (so I gave up). Fortunately I'd made all of the images with http://www.maths.tcd.ie/ links - so all I had to do was do a find & replace over the database and replace with http://blog.psdavey.com/ and it all just worked.
